Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Today, I am announcing that I will be leaving my role as CEO of the various Bruderman financial services firms. For more than 30 years, I’ve been blessed with a career that has allowed me to work with so many extraordinary people. Together, we’ve built stronger companies, great brands, and provided products and services that have consistently set the highest standards. We helped people create wealth through thousands of jobs and sound financial decision making.
For this country to thrive, however, wealth creation can’t just be for the wealthy. Poverty and dependency continue to be at levels in this country that should be unacceptable to every American. Despite promises from politicians that the government will solve the problem, it has failed miserably because it doesn’t focus on empowering people to earn their own way up the economic ladder. I am excited for the next chapter in my life dedicated to pursuing my passion for charitable missions and addressing these societal issues through new and innovative approaches.
While I will continue to invest in projects, this shift will allow me to spend more time with my wife and children, as well as devote considerably more time to philanthropy. Over the last few years, I have been transitioning my responsibilities to some of the best men and women in their fields. They are outstanding individuals who are better suited to take these companies to the next level. I am grateful to them and the many hardworking employees for their professionalism and commitment to excellence.
Now, I am embracing the opportunity to direct my knowledge, significant experience, relationships, and skill sets towards uplifting and guiding those in need. In my career, I have been a securities analyst, wealth manager, financial advisor, investment banker, corporate advisor, and CEO. However, in my earlier years I was also a delivery boy, busboy, waiter, cashier, caddy, and parking attendant hustling to pay my college tuition and make ends meet.
These experiences provided me with an invaluable perspective, helped shape my character, and exposed me to a diverse group of role models, mentors, and coworkers. They positively shaped my journey and continue to influence me today. I do not believe that I would have been successful in business without the grit, moral compass, perseverance, creativity, and gratitude I learned along the way from their example.
As many know, I am proud of my family history that stretches back in this country to before the Revolution. The tireless work ethic, sacrifice, and service to others demonstrated by my father, grandfathers, and prior generations of my family are a constant inspiration to me. It is a legacy I will continue to strive to uphold. I trust my outstanding teams to continue our great work and I will stay on as a board member of many of our businesses to ensure the continuation of the Bruderman reputation for integrity and excellence.
With Sincere Appreciation,
Matthew J. Bruderman
